Smooth Skin Gold - IPL | Week 1
As this was my first time using the product I read the instruction book cover to cover this is essential to make sure you get the best results from your machine and don’t cause your skin any damage through miss-use. As with any new skin product I needed to do a patch test 24 hours before beginning treatment, which was useful to help me decide if I should regular or gentle setting (gentle definitely gentle).
I’m not gonna lie, there is a pop of pain with each press of the button but this fades after a couple of seconds and is replaced with a hot tingling feeling which soon passes (I say pain but it’s really more of a dull thud, and it’s more the surprise that gets you more than the actual sensation). You are supposed to avoid bright sunlight after treatment so I have decided to just do my treatments in the evenings before bed.
The only drawback as far as I am concerned is that the treatment has to be carried out on shaved skin, which means no plucking, threading or waxing before during or after the treatment. As, in order for the treatment to be effective the root of the hair needs to be in the hair follicle or the treatment won’t work. (But then I am trying to break myself of the plucking cycle so why the bloody hell am I complaining anyway?) I’m really looking forward to being facial hair free in about 11 weeks time!

Smooth Skin Gold - IPL Permanent Hair Removal System | Introduction
Over the past few years hormones and the natural ageing
process have caused me to sprout some rather unsettling facial hairs. I’m not talking hair of freak show bearded
lady proportions, just a couple of rather thick dark hairs where there should
be no hairs at all.
Other people assure me that they really aren’t that bad and
that they are barely visible. But I know
they are there. Every time I look in a mirror I see them and every time I touch
my face I feel them. This has lead to a rather ridiculous, time
wasting ritual of daily skin examination and hair plucking which I’d really
like to stop, ASAP.
I’d previously looked into permanent hair removal methods of
course, but they were scary and expensive. “You want how much to blast a small
area of my face with a laser? That’s the price per session for 12 sessions? I’ll pass thanks.”
Now don’t get me wrong, the Smooth Skin IPL is not cheap,
but when you consider the fact that you can use it over your whole face and
body and then compare the price to that you’d pay to have all of those areas
treated at a salon, you soon see a huge saving.
Add to that the savings you are making in in petrol/bus fare/parking, tips, phone calls and general time saved, quite frankly you’d be mad not to get one.

The Smooth Skin IPL comes in a neat little box and is a
sleek and shiny space age looking gadget that is simple to use and doesn’t
require any assembly. Once it’s plugged in you hold the head over
your skin press the button and with a flash and a pop the area is treated. It really is that simple.
